“Australian Idol”…

Every photographer has someone whose work they admire and get inspired by – the “wow” factor that draws you back again and again.   When I heard my favorite photographer, Barb Uil from Australia, was coming to the states to give a workshop, I was all over it!    I  never dreamed I could get as much out of it as I did.  Watching her in action was so inspirational.  She sees things just a little differently than the rest.  We also had the fun of being on a 100 acre farm with gorgreous natural backdrops.  I took a lot away that weekend…  Here are a few pics I took of the different “models” that shared time with us.

carolyn bowles - Wow, you got some fantastic shots at the workshop and the way you’ve worked on them is so beautiful. It was such a joy to meet you and Roger at the workshop and I truly hope we can continue to keep in touch and inspire one another!

It all came together…

Great weather, kids in a good mood, and beautiful evening sun.  It also didn’t hurt that the kids looked like something out of a Ralph Lauren ad:).  I love this family and always enjoy shooting them.  The kids really orchestrated what they felt comfortable with and how they wanted to have fun.  It’s always fun to see what “unfolds” and roll with it.  I LOVED so many of these poses!  Really amazing!

Frogs and snails and puppy dog tails…

Three adorable boys…loads of thick hair, sweet plaid overalls, seersucker shorts, and lots of “rough and tumble” fun!   There were also some very tender moments in the mix…

Serenity on the beach…

Early morning is always a great time to shoot on the beach.  The light is nice and diffused and creates a softness that I love.  Enter stage left, a beautiful family ready to play on the beach – and great photos are made!   Had we shot at high noon or on a very bright, sunny day,  the feel of the pictures would have been quite different.  I’m glad it all came together the way it did.  Everything about this family was sweet, gentle, and unrushed.  Perfect harmony!

Trish Kalweit - Elizabeth – You have managed to capture the happiness of our family in your photographs. The session was so relaxed and working with you was a dream. It is so apparent that you love what you do…it absolutely “shines” through in your work.

The “cute” factor…

I shot 3 little brothers on the beach on Sunday.  I had genuine fun during the shoot just laughing at all the cute things they were doing.  Mom was great at bringing out their personalities and gave me ample opportunity to capture great candid moments.  It’s times like this I really LOVE my job!:)
